Sony Open Organizer's Defense Limited In Facility Dispute

Law360, Miami (July 30, 2013, 6:52 PM EDT) -- A Florida state judge gave a man challenging the expansion of a Miami-area tennis facility a partial win Monday when he tossed two affirmative defenses brought by the organizer of the Sony Open tennis tournament.

Judge Marc Schumacher partially granted Bruce C. Matheson's motion to strike the affirmative defenses of International Players Championship Inc., which organizes the Sony Open each year and intervened in Matheson's suit against Miami-Dade County over plans to upgrade the tennis facilities in Crandon Park on Key Biscayne.
