Regal Cinemas Dropped From Janitors' Class Action

Law360 (February 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A district court judge has tossed a proposed class action by janitors against Regal Cinemas Inc., ruling that the movie theater chain cannot be deemed a joint employer with the cleaning company that provides the workers.

While dismissing the janitors' claims for unpaid overtime wages against Regal Cinemas, Judge Alexander Williams Jr. gave the plaintiffs the green light last week to send potential class action members opt-in notices for their continuing case against Sparkle Cleaning Inc.
