Financing Spat Over 'Chef' Movie Boils Into Fraud Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (August 7, 2013, 2:34 PM EDT) -- A company financing the upcoming Jon Favreau film comedy “Chef” sued a co-financier in California state court on Tuesday, claiming its partner in the venture defrauded it out of nearly $300,000 in a dispute over a third-party bank account for the film's funds.

In a 21-page complaint filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, the Encino, Calif.-based Sous Chef LLC claims that Providence Films LLC, its chief, Xavier Mitchell, and Chicago Title Co., all were involved in the alleged fraud.
