AMR, US Airways Customers Seek To Block $11B Merger

Law360, New York (August 7, 2013, 1:57 PM EDT) -- Customers of AMR Corp.'s American Airlines Inc. and US Airways Group Inc. on Tuesday hit the airlines with a lawsuit alleging their soon-to-be-implemented $11 billion merger violates federal antitrust laws and urging a New York bankruptcy court to enjoin the deal.

Fifty plaintiffs who said they have previously purchased tickets from the two carriers and will likely continue to in the future argued in their complaint that the merger violates Section 7 of the Clayton Antitrust Act because it will curb competition within the airline industry....
