MLB Players' Union Appeals A-Rod's Drug Suspension

Law360, New York (August 8, 2013, 5:09 PM EDT) -- The Major League Baseball Players Association on Wednesday formally appealed a 211-game suspension handed to aging New York Yankees slugger Alex Rodriguez, setting up an arbitration fight that could linger until after baseball's regular season ends.

The expected appeal became official, according to multiple reports, two days after baseball brought the hammer down on a total of 13 ballplayers including the famed third baseman and other notable players including Texas Rangers outfielder Nelson Cruz and Detroit Tigers shortstop Jhonny Peralta.
