Sens. Seek Private Sector Help To Curb Internet Piracy

Law360, Washington (September 17, 2013, 2:21 PM EDT) -- Two U.S. senators urged the entertainment industry and other stakeholders on Tuesday to participate in public-private partnerships to combat the ever-growing Internet piracy market as a new study unveiled dramatic increases in infringing bandwidth in the last two years.

Sens. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah, and Sheldon Whitehouse, D-R.I., both decried the “rapid rate” at which Internet piracy continues to grow and the negative effects the activity has on the U.S. economy, job creation and innovation.
