Deals Rumor Mill: TPG, Goldman Sachs, Carlos Slim

By Karlee Weinmann (August 16, 2013, 4:48 PM EDT) -- Eight prospective buyers have come forward with offers for the sought-after Hong Kong supermarket chain ParknShop, which analysts have said could be worth as much as $4 billion, according to a Friday report from The Wall Street Journal. Among the bidders for Hutchison Whampoa Ltd.'s grocery unit are Texas-based TPG Capital, as well as regional retailers China Resources Enterprise Ltd. and Aeon Co. Ltd. As expected, the sale process, which began in June, has pulled in suitors from around the world. The company plans to shortlist its favorite candidates next month. Goldman Sachs Group Inc. and Bank of America Merrill Lynch are steering the sale process....
