Chinese Man Admits Plot To Export Military-Grade Carbon Fiber

Law360, New York (August 19, 2013, 4:38 PM EDT) -- A Chinese national on Monday pled guilty in New York federal court to attempting to export massive quantities of a high-tech, military-grade carbon fiber to China for use related to an experimental fighter jet, in violation of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act.

Ming Suan Zhang made the plea following his arrest in an undercover sting operation in which he first tried to acquire a sample of the specialized carbon fiber, a Pentagon-regulated substance prized by the defense and aerospace sectors.
