Brooklyn Hospital In Limbo After Judge Voids Deal With NY

Law360, New York (August 22, 2013, 7:55 PM EDT) -- A Brooklyn judge's order unwinding the 2011 transfer of Long Island College Hospital real estate assets to the state could ultimately keep the Brooklyn medical center open, but legal experts said Thursday that tough questions remained about who could pony up cash to run the money-bleeding facility.

In a spontaneous decision full of hints of conspiracy, Kings County Supreme Court Judge Carolyn E. Demarest said an attempt to close the hospital by the State University of New York – Downstate may have been planned from the get-go....
