Judge Trims Travelers' Overbilling Suit Against Centex

Law360, Chicago (August 27, 2013, 8:40 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Monday pared two lawsuits from Travelers Property Casualty Co. of America accusing Newmeyer & Dillion LLP and Centex Homes of overbilling it for defense coverage in construction-defect litigation.

In a 20-page order, U.S. District Judge Samuel Conti threw out in their entirety Travelers’ claims under California’s Unfair Competition Law, finding that the insurer failed to show that the alleged scheme had any impact on the general public as required under the UCL.
