NFL Urges Judge To Ditch Hatmaker's Antitrust Suit

Law360, Chicago (August 27, 2013, 6:58 PM EDT) -- The National Football League on Tuesday pressed an Illinois federal judge to put an end to a long-running antitrust suit accusing the league of creating a monopoly when it handed Reebok International Inc. an exclusive license to make team hats.

At a court hearing on its motion for summary judgment, the NFL portrayed the plaintiff, hatmaker American Needle Inc., as a disgruntled former licensee whose poor performance would have cost it the license even absent the exclusive Reebok deal.
