NYC Bus Cos. Lose Bid To Void Job-Protection Agreements

Law360, New York (August 28, 2013, 3:47 PM EDT) -- A controversial move by the Bloomberg administration to accept school busing contract bids for 2013 free of union-friendly job protection provisions does not entitle operators to void the labor-friendly agreements under which they currently operate, a New York City judge ruled in a decision posted Tuesday.

Judge Peter H. Moulton rejected claims by Staten Island Bus Inc., Lonero Transit Inc. and Pioneer Transportation Corp. that that policy change put them at a competitive disadvantage in bidding for the new school year.
