Lions Gate Bites Back At 'Twilight' Antitrust Claims

Law360, New York (September 4, 2013, 4:51 PM EDT) -- Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. blasted back Wednesday at a $500 million lawsuit claiming the studio used overly aggressive copyright enforcement to monopolize the market for parodies of the “Twilight” series, calling the antitrust claims “a morass of contradictory allegations.”

Between the Lines Productions LLC — which produced a spoof of the hugely successful teen fantasy franchise called “Twiharder” — accused Lions Gate in May of trying to “monopolize the conversation” about “Twilight” through a “highly oppressive intellectual property enforcement policy” using “sham” cease-and-desist notices.
