Patriot Act Author, NRA Join ACLU Fight Against Gov't Spying

Law360, New York (September 5, 2013, 8:17 PM EDT) -- The American Civil Liberties Union gained several supporters Thursday in its New York federal court suit challenging the National Security Agency's mass collection of domestic phone records, receiving support from the National Rifle Association and the author of the challenged surveillance statute.

The interested parties joined the suit after U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley granted six separate motions allowing them to file briefs on behalf of the ACLU, which initiated the action in June following the leak of a classified Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court opinion...
