FilmOn Barred From Streaming Network TV In Most States

Law360, Los Angeles (September 5, 2013, 8:36 PM EDT) -- A federal judge dealt a massive blow to online television streaming service FilmOn X on Thursday, imposing a near-nationwide preliminary injunction prohibiting it from retransmitting four major TV broadcasters' signals over the Internet. 

U.S. District Judge Rosemary M. Collyer granted a joint motion for a preliminary injunction filed in August by Fox Broadcasting Co., NBC Studios LLC, American Broadcasting Cos. Inc. and CBS Broadcasting Inc., saying FilmOn is prohibited from retransmitting the networks' programs under the Copyright Act of 1976.
