Anti-Piracy Software Inventor's IP Claims Fail, Google Says

Law360, San Francisco (September 6, 2013, 6:16 PM EDT) -- Google Inc., Samsung Telecommunications America and others urged a California federal judge Friday to toss a Chinese inventor's allegations that they're infringing his patent covering software that prevents music from being downloaded illegally, arguing that a payment-related limitation he added isn’t supported by the patent.

The limitation Ho Keung Tse recently added to his patent is the same one he introduced in 2001, which the U.S. Patent and Trademark Officer rejected during re-examination proceedings, attorneys for Google argued Friday.
