Starbucks Objects To 'Astonishing' $4.5M Attys' Fees

Law360, New York (September 16, 2013, 6:43 PM EDT) -- Starbucks Corp. on Friday blasted an “astonishing” $4.5 million attorneys’ fee request by the lead plaintiff in a wage-and-hour class action against the mega-chain that was settled earlier this year for $3 million.

In a brief filed in California federal court, Starbucks argued that most the original $860 million in claims by former Starbucks barista Summer York were dismissed and that she could only seek attorneys’ fees for work on claims that were successful.
