PointRoll Inks Deal To Exit Apple Browser Tracking MDL

Law360, Chicago (September 24, 2013, 6:05 PM EDT) -- PointRoll Inc. has reached a settlement to exit a sprawling class action alleging it and other online advertisers, including Google Inc., bypassed Apple Inc.’s Safari browser privacy settings to track consumers’ Internet activity, according to court documents filed Monday in Delaware.

PointRoll, a Gannett Co. Inc. unit, agreed under the deal to take steps to remove its tracking cookies from consumers’ computers and to limit the company’s future use of such cookies, the plaintiffs said in a motion seeking preliminary approval of the settlement.
