DOD Advances Stronger Contractor Whistleblower Shields

Law360, New York (September 27, 2013, 1:50 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Defense on Friday issued an interim rule to bolster protections for government contractor whistleblowers that allows agency heads to determine whether such contractor employees faced retaliation from their employers for reporting compliance issues.

The rule, which the DOD issued along with the General Services Administration and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, amends the Federal Acquisition Regulation and will go into effect when it is published in the Federal Register on Monday, according to the Federal Register notice.
