Paris Baguette Faces FACTA Suit Over Credit Card Receipts

Law360, New York (October 3, 2013, 5:08 PM EDT) -- Paris Baguette America Inc. was hit Thursday with a proposed class action in New York federal court accusing it of violating the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act by printing credit and debit card expiration dates on receipts.

Plaintiff Devorah Crupar-Weinmann alleged in her complaint that identity thieves commonly obtain credit card receipts that have been lost or discarded and use them engage in unauthorized transactions and that, by failing to comply with FACTA, Paris Baguette has left consumers unprotected and vulnerable to identity theft....
