Judge Slashes Attys Fees In Freight Forwarding Cartel Case

Law360, Los Angeles (October 3, 2013, 9:35 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge Thursday awarded $13.6 million in fees to attorneys for the plaintiffs in a suit alleging international price-fixing conspiracies by freight-forwarding companies, just over a third of what they originally requested for their work on 10 settlement agreements that established a $112 million fund. 

U.S. District Judge John Gleeson granted the attorneys $13.6 million in attorneys' fees and about $613,000 in expenses, which are the amounts the attorneys calculated using the lodestar approach after the judge balked at their initial request. The...
