Internet Broadcaster Urges 9th Circ. To Toss $1.3M IP Award

Law360, Los Angeles (October 8, 2013, 9:56 PM EDT) -- Internet broadcaster BKT Group urged the Ninth Circuit on Tuesday to toss a jury award of $1.3 million in trademark infringement damages on claims that it illegally broadcast a Thai television network's shows, saying the jury used an improper measure of damages.

California-based BKT challenged the trademark portion of a verdict that also included an award of $7 million in statutory copyright damages and $1.6 million in actual copyright damages to Bangkok Broadcasting & T.V. Co. Ltd., which alleged BKT misappropriated its content for a year...
