SUNY Plan To Close Ailing Brooklyn Hospital Ruled Invalid

Law360, New York (October 15, 2013, 3:45 PM EDT) -- A New York state judge issued an order Tuesday blocking the State University of New York – Downstate and the state's health agency from executing a plan to close Long Island College Hospital, contract with a new operator for a smaller facility and possibly sell LICH real estate assets.

Judge Johnny Lee Baynes' permanent injunction was issued about a month after he issued a temporary restraining order in a victory for nurses, doctors and union members who have fought to keep the money-bleeding hospital running....
