Aereo Saga Might Get Poor Reception In High Court For Now

Law360, New York (October 15, 2013, 8:15 PM EDT) -- The nation's broadcasters took their dispute with Aereo Inc. to the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday in the hopes of winning a ruling that the streaming service violates copyright law, but experts say the lack of a circuit split and other hurdles could doom the petition for the time being.

The bid for a writ of certiorari was the first to come out of the 18-month, multijurisdictional battle against Aereo and technologically analogous service FilmOn X, which both use banks of tiny antennae to retransmit broadcast television signals to individual Internet users.
