Judge Allows Broadcasters To Amend Complaint Against Aereo

Law360, Los Angeles (October 17, 2013, 3:25 PM EDT) -- A New York federal judge has allowed broadcasting companies including NBCUniversal Media LLC and American Broadcasting Companies Inc. to amend their complaint against online streaming service Aereo Inc. to include a claim of indirect copyright infringement, saying the proposed amendment won't prejudice Aereo.

In a ruling made public Thursday, U.S. Magistrate Judge Henry Pitman granted the broadcasters' April motion to amend their complaint, although he chastised them for flip-flopping on whether to plead indirect infringement since filing suit against Aereo in early 2012.
