NFL, AP, Getty Sued By Photographers Over Copyright Abuse

Law360, New York (October 25, 2013, 3:45 PM EDT) -- Seven sports photographers hit the National Football League, the Associated Press and Getty Images with a copyright infringement lawsuit in New York federal court on Monday, accusing them of using thousands of images without compensation.

The photographers — one of whom is a former head of the NFL’s Photographic Services Division — license their football photos to the NFL through the AP and Getty, but claim the two companies cut deals with the league to provide it with the content royalty-free.
