BP Fights What's Left Of Deepwater Horizon Securities Suit

Law360, New York (October 28, 2013, 5:22 PM EDT) -- BP PLC and several subsidiaries and former executives asked a Texas federal judge on Friday to nix the only claim left standing in a securities fraud lawsuit lodged by three public pension funds in the aftermath of the Deepwater Horizon explosion.

U.S. District Judge Keith P. Ellison decided in September to toss the majority of the funds' accusations that BP; ex-CEO Tony Hayward; and Andy Inglis, the executive in charge of the exploration unit, among others, all purposefully made false statements about the company's disaster readiness. ...
