$7.7M Settlement Approved In Verizon OT Class Action

Law360, Los Angeles (October 29, 2013, 10:39 PM EDT) -- A Illinois federal judge approved a deal Tuesday in which Verizon Communications Inc. will pay $7.7 million to settle a class action in which retail employees alleged the wireless carrier had shirked the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage laws when it declined to pay workers overtime and bonuses.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Maria Valdez on Tuesday approved the deal to end more than two years of litigation over whether the retail workers weren’t paid according to labor laws.
