AT&T, Sprint Dodge FCA Suit Over Wiretap Services

Law360, New York (November 6, 2013, 4:23 PM EST) -- AT&T Inc., Sprint Nextel Corp. and other telecommunications companies won dismissal Tuesday of a whistleblower suit accusing them of overcharging the government for wiretapping services after a California federal judge ruled the whistleblower who brought the suit was not the original source of the claims.

In granting the telecoms' bid to toss the amended qui tam action, Judge Charles R. Breyer absolved them from relator John C. Prather's allegations that they violated the False Claims Act by charging the FBI and the U.S. Department of Justice...
