McDonald's Loses Ground In Ocean City Lease Dispute

Law360, New York (November 7, 2013, 5:53 PM EST) -- A New Jersey federal court on Thursday granted one of Crown Financial Corp.'s two motions for summary judgment in its contract dispute with McDonald's over the restaurant's lease of a New Jersey building.

The court found Crown has the right to consider rival, bona fide offers at the end of every lease period, if McDonald's gets adequate rights to first refusal. Crown initiated the action because of an affiliate's rival offer to pay more than five times for the space than McDonald's is currently paying. But...
