Ex-White Sox Scout Gets 8 Months In Kickback Scheme

Law360, Chicago (November 22, 2013, 6:11 PM EST) -- A former Chicago White Sox scout was sentenced to eight months in prison Friday for his role in a kickback scheme that skimmed more than $400,000 from inflated signing bonuses for Latin American baseball prospects.

U.S. District Judge Charles R. Norgle handed down the sentence to Victor Mateo at a court hearing in Chicago, but did not impose a fine or restitution on the Dominican scout, according to a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Illinois.
