ACLU Slams FHFA Over Eminent Domain Foreclosure Stance

Law360, New York (December 5, 2013, 5:36 PM EST) -- The American Civil Liberties Union hit the Federal Housing Finance Agency with a suit alleging Freedom of Information Act violations in California federal court Thursday, claiming the agency has collaborated with the financial industry to block cities from using eminent domain to prevent foreclosures.

The ACLU, the Center for Popular Democracy and several California groups sought to compel the FHFA to provide information related to its decision to oppose the city of Richmond's plan to seize land through eminent domain in order to prevent foreclosures....
