New Jersey Shelves PokerStars' Online Gambling License

Law360, Houston (December 11, 2013, 7:43 PM EST) -- PokerStars’ bid to re-establish a foothold in the U.S. has been dealt a heavy blow by New Jersey’s gambling authority, which said Wednesday it was suspending its review of the online gambling giant’s licensure application until 2015.

The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement said it is suspending the application of the world’s largest online poker company for two years because of PokerStars’ ongoing relationship with former founder Isai Scheinberg, who was indicted in 2011 for violating federal online gambling laws.
