Toyota To Talk Personal Injury Settlement In Acceleration MDL

Law360, New York (December 13, 2013, 4:25 PM EST) -- Toyota Motor Corp. is entering settlement negotiations with hundreds of consumers bringing personal injury, wrongful death and property damage claims related to an alleged unintended acceleration defect in the automaker's vehicles, a California federal judge said Thursday.

U.S. District Judge James Selna, who is overseeing the multidistrict litigation against Toyota over the issue, granted initial approval to an “intensive” settlement conference and mediation process put forward by the company and the lead attorneys for the plaintiffs.
