NY To End 2013 With $61B From Thriving Tourism Industry

Law360, New York (December 16, 2013, 4:30 PM EST) -- New York is expected to end 2013 with 218.8 million visitors who generated $61.3 billion in direct spending and $7.7 billion in state and local taxes, marking another banner year for the state’s robust tourism industry, Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s office announced Monday.

The statewide, year-end numbers show a total visitor count that’s an increase of 8.8 million, or 4.2 percent increase, over 2012’s total visitor count. Additionally, the tourism industry is projected to add 24,800 jobs by the end of the year to close out...
