NY Prosecutors Go After Dirty Pols' Pensions

Law360, New York (December 17, 2013, 7:37 PM EST) -- Two New York politicians convicted of corruption-related offenses could be ordered to forfeit their public pensions, Manhattan's top federal prosecutor said Tuesday.

U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said his office is pursuing pension funds given to former New York state Sen. Hiram Monserrate and top Yonkers city Democrat Sandy Annabi.

Monserrate was convicted of diverting taxpayer money to his campaign, and Annabi, the Democratic leader on Yonkers' city council, took bribes to approve real-estate projects.
