Music Choice Sues Viacom Over Digital Music Patents

By Ryan Davis (March 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Music Choice, the longtime leader in broadcasting digital music over cable TV systems, has filed a patent infringement suit against upstart Urge Radio, which is owned by Viacom and MTV Networks.

In the suit, filed March 4 in the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware, Music Choice accuses Viacom's Urge Radio of infringing on two of its patents.

Urge Radio was launched by Viacom and MTV in the spring of 2007 and provides a similar service to Music Choice, which has been in operation since 1990.
