PGA Officials' Union Can't Sue Its Ex-Lawyer In Texas

Law360, Houston (January 2, 2014, 7:20 PM EST) -- The Professional Association of Golf Officials cannot sue its former attorney in Texas over advice he gave members about changes to their collective bargaining agreement with the Professional Golfer's Association, a state appeals court said last week.

In a Dec. 27 ruling, Texas' Second Court of Appeals said a trial court was right to dismiss PAGO’s malpractice suit against Philadelphia-based attorney Patrick Campbell of Phillips Campbell & Phillips LLP, because the court lacked personal jurisdiction over the lawyer and his firm.
