Hartford Hits Eject On Coverage Of Redbox ADA Suit

Law360, Los Angeles (January 7, 2014, 4:38 PM EST) -- Hartford Fire Insurance Co. sued Redbox Automated Retail LLC in Illinois federal court Monday, saying it does not need to defend the company in an underlying ADA putative class action alleging Redbox discriminates against people who are deaf.

The insurer is asking the court to declare that, under commercial general liability and umbrella policies it issued Redbox between 2005 and 2009, it has no duty to defend or indemnify the company in Francis Jancik’s suit accusing Redbox of violating the Americans with Disabilities Act by stocking...
