Atty Falsely Listed Fishermen As Gulf Spill Clients, Suit Says

Law360, New York (January 8, 2014, 2:22 PM EST) -- Over a dozen Vietnamese-American fishermen filed a putative class action in Louisiana federal court on Tuesday accusing an embattled Texas-based lawyer and his firm of wrongfully listing them as clients to gain a lucrative spot on the Deepwater Horizon oil spill plaintiffs’ steering committee.

  

The defendants, Mikal Watts and his firm Watts Guerra LLP, were sued by BP PLC last month in a suit accusing them of vastly inflating the number of claimants for an over $2 billion seafood compensation program.
