9th Circ. OK With Costco's Final Paycheck Deductions

Law360, New York (January 9, 2014, 7:41 PM EST) -- The Ninth Circuit upheld a loss for an ex-worker who brought a collective action against Costco Wholesale Corp. for deducting outstanding balances on company-issued credit cards from employees' final paychecks, holding that the lower court rightly found the deductions didn't violate federal or state law. 

A three-judge appellate panel said that the trial court didn't drop the ball when it concluded in Aug. 2011 that Carrie Ward hadn't proven that Costco violated the Fair Labor Standards Act's minimum wage or overtime requirements.
