Calif. Lawmaker Drafts Bill To Ban Internet Gambling Cafes

Law360, New York (January 16, 2014, 6:53 PM EST) -- On the heels of a massive crackdown of California Internet cafes offering illegal casino-style games, an assemblyman has introduced a bill to block the proliferation of sweepstakes gambling cafes, according to a Thursday statement.

Rudy Salas, D-Bakersfield, proposed Assembly Bill 1439 to close a loophole in current state laws that doesn't clearly define sweepstakes gaming by defining those activities as an unfair business practice.
