Law360, New York (January 23, 2014, 6:49 PM EST) -- Google Inc., Facebook Inc., Verizon Communications Inc. and other companies that have been caught up in the furor over the National Security Agency's surveillance tactics are stepping up their efforts to influence Congress on proposed spying reforms and other hot-button issues, according to disclosures released Wednesday.

During the fourth quarter of 2013, technology, social media and telecommunications giants spent millions of dollars on congressional lobbying efforts, with companies like Google, Facebook, Yahoo Inc., and Microsoft Corp. increasing their spending from the same period last year.
