SEC In Settlement Talks With Ex-Level Global Trader

Law360, New York (January 22, 2014, 6:43 PM EST) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is in settlement discussions with former Level Global Investors LP portfolio manager Mark Megalli, who pled guilty in November to an insider trading scheme that earned the hedge fund at least $2.5 million, his attorney told Law360 on Wednesday.

Megalli, who admitted responsibility Nov. 14 for between $2.5 million and $7 million in trading gains and avoided losses, said in a Jan. 16 motion that he was engaged in ongoing settlement discussions with the SEC. His attorney, Paul Monnin of DLA...
