Deals Rumor Mill: GE, Air France, BC Partners

Law360, New York (January 23, 2014, 3:28 PM EST) -- The private equity arm of General Electric Co. could sell about $1 billion in fund stakes in order to comply with new regulations restricting banks' risk-taking, Bloomberg reported Thursday. The Volcker Rule, which took full effect in December, limits financial institutions' investments in private equity. The GE division is meeting with advisers as it mulls a secondary sale of certain of its holdings, mostly interests in U.S. middle-market buyout funds.
