KBR Hit With LOGCAP III Kickback, False Claims Act Suit

Law360, Washington (January 23, 2014, 7:32 PM EST) -- The federal government has accused KBR Inc. and two of its Kuwaiti subcontractors of filing false claims and receiving kickbacks stemming from their work on KBR's massive logistical support contract in Iraq, the U.S. Department of Justice announced Thursday.

According to the unsealed complaint, KBR reached agreements with the subcontractors — La Nouvelle General Trading & Contracting Co. and First Kuwaiti Trading Co. — as part of their so-called LOGCAP III contract in exchange for kickbacks, then charged the government inflated sums for those agreements.
