Conservative Writer Indicted For Illegal Campaign Donations

Law360, Los Angeles (January 23, 2014, 8:30 PM EST) -- Conservative commentator Dinesh D'Souza has been charged with violating federal campaign finance laws by making excessive and illegal contributions totaling $20,000 to a U.S. Senate campaign in the names of others, according to a New York federal indictment filed Thursday.

D'Souza, 52, allegedly reimbursed individuals with whom he was associated to make contributions to the campaign committee for an unnamed candidate in the 2012 U.S. Senate race in New York, according to the indictment.
