NJ Transit Hit With Racial Discrimination Class Action

Law360, New York (January 27, 2014, 7:35 PM EST) -- Six African-American current and former employees of New Jersey Transit have launched a putative class action accusing the public transportation agency of allowing widespread racial discrimination in promotions, pay and discipline.

In a Jan. 14 complaint filed in Essex County Superior Court, the plaintiffs — who have worked in NJ Transit's procurement department, marketing and sales department and finance office — contend that speaking out only led to retaliation, and that high-level managers have been able to utilize the agency's Equal Employment office to cover up discrimination....
