NIGC To Meet Tribes Over NEPA Trigger In Casino Deals

Law360, New York (February 11, 2014, 7:11 PM EST) -- The National Indian Gaming Commission will conduct one-on-one consultations with tribes across the country this year as it moves toward modifying its policy of requiring a National Environmental Policy Act review to approve casino management deals, according to a Federal Register notice Tuesday.

Between March 20 and May 14, the NIGC said it will hold four meetings with tribes to discuss proposed rules that would address concerns over how the agency's approval of management contract deals triggers a NEPA review. The consultations are the latest step...
