Philly Sports Bar Shells Out $8.4M To DOL, Workers

Law360, New York (February 20, 2014, 7:16 PM EST) -- Philadelphia-based Chickie's & Pete's Inc. agreed Thursday to pay out more than $8.4 million in separate settlements with the U.S. Department of Labor and with employees alleging back wages, tip theft and more under the Fair Labor Standards Act.

The sports bar chain and founder Peter Ciarrocchi Jr. have agreed to pony up $6.8 million in back wages and damages plus a $50,000 civil money penalty to 1,159 employees, under a deal with the DOL that has been filed in Pennsylvania federal court as a consent...
